Dr. Ramjee

Dr. Vimal Ramjee is a Senior Staff Cardiologist at the Chattanooga Heart Institute with Memorial Hospital, and a Certified Culinary Medicine Specialist. Dr. Ramjee is the Director of the Cardiovascular CT Imaging Program and the Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion Structural Heart Program at Memorial Hospital.

He holds 7 board certifications in Cardiovascular Disease (Cardiology), AI in Medicine, Echocardiography, Nuclear Medicine, Cardiac CT, Internal Medicine, and Culinary Medicine. In addition to cardiovascular imaging, general cardiology, and structural heart imaging, Dr. Ramjee leads the AI clinical workflow programs at Memorial Hospital for the cardiovascular service line.

He obtained his undergraduate degree in neurobiology and behavioral science at Emory University. Dr. Ramjee completed his medical training at top-tiered, nationally ranked medical institutions.

He graduated from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, and completed internal medicine residency at Emory University (Atlanta, GA). Following this, he trained in cardiology and cardiovascular disease at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, PA), as well as advanced cardiac CT imaging at Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, MD).

Dr. Ramjee has been awarded grants from the NIH and American Heart Association for his impactful work on heart disease. He has several lead author peer-reviewed publications in high-impact medical journals.

His work spans from the role of the immune system in recovery from heart attacks, to how specific cholesterol biomarkers may be leveraged to help prevent heart disease. For his scientific contributions, he has been recognized with several nationally competitive awards including the Young Investigator Awards from the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association. He is a national winner of the Young Investigator's Forum at Northwestern University for his groundbreaking work revealing an important role of the immune system in repairing heart muscle after a heart attack.

As a cardiologist and certified culinary medicine specialist, Dr. Ramjee is passionate about the impact that food has on health outcomes. He is a national leader in the food health world and a strong advocate for clean, nutritive food as a basis for optimal wellbeing. He serves on the Board of Directors for multiple nationally recognized nonprofit food organizations, including the Non-GMO Project and the Cornucopia Institute. Dr. Ramjee lives in Chattanooga, Tenn., with his wife and two children. In his free time, he loves to exercise, spend time with his family, travel and give back to the community.
